MDP opens primaries next week for Local Council Election

Largest opposition party, MDP has a decided to hold the primaries next week for the upcoming Local Council Election in January.

The party has previously said that they would be running alongside the Maldives United Opposition (MUO) which includes many other political parties.

Speaking at a press conference today at the MDP office regarding their primaries for the Local Council Election, the Deputy Chairperson of MDP, Ali Niyaz said that the party would decide constituencies for the coming election very soon and the interested candidates can apply for the party primaries next week.

This time around, the candidates running on the MDP ticket are now allowed to campaign personally.

Niyaz said that the opposition coalition would win the Local Council Election yet again in a landslide.
