Fire near the Hulhumeedhoo Kulhi extinguished

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) has said that the fire that started near the Hulhumeedhoo “Kandofishi Kulhi” (a natural pond habitat for freshwater fish, etc.) has been extinguished.

Maldives Police Service said that the fire was reported to the Hulhumeedhoo Police Station at 6:27 p.m. and was rushed to the scene.

MNDF said that the fire by the “Kandofishi Kulhi” in Hulhumeedhoo was doused by the officers of the MNDF Southern Area Command.

Information Officer of the Police, Ismail Ali told Sun Media that there were difficulties attaining water in the area to extinguish the fire and so palm leaves were used.

Police said that there have been no reports of an injury to person or property in the fire.
