Two former Defense Ministers ordered to appear at the Police Station

Maldives Police Service has ordered the former Defense Minister in the Nasheed Presidency, Ameen Faisal and the second Defense Minister of the Presidency of President Yameen Abdul Gayoom, Moosa Ali Jaleel, to appear at the Police Station tomorrow.

Information Officer of the Police, Ismail Ali told Sun Media that the two are being summoned to be questioned in an ongoing investigation.

The information Officer did not say as to which case they are related to.

He said that Moosa Ali Jaleel was ordered to appear at 5 p.m. tomorrow and Ameen Faisal is to appear at 8 p.m.

Moosa Ali Jaleel was assigned as the second Defense Minister of the currently Presidency after the first Defense Minister, Colonel-retired Mohamed Nazim was arrested following the discovery of a firearm at his residence.

Jaleel was also charged with terrorism for his involvement in the arrest of then Chief Judge of the Criminal Court, Abdulla Mohamed during the Presidency of Mohamed Nasheed. The Criminal Court ruled that he was innocent of the charges that were brought up when he was the Defense Minister.

But Moosa Ali Jaleel was dismissed by President Yameen following the explosion on board the Presidential Launch “Finifenma”.
