Opportunity to apply for Teachers’ Flat opened to other education sector employees

Ministry of Education has announced the decision to allow other education sector employees to apply for the Teachers’ Flat – Edhuruvehi – located in Vilimale’.

The 83 apartments in the Teachers’ Flat currently houses only teachers and their families.

Director General of Ministry of Education, Mohamed Waheed spoke to “Sun” this Sunday and said that those who are eligible for the apartments can still live in the building. And that other civil servants working in the Maldivian education sector will be allowed to apply for vacant apartments.

“Its occupies only by teachers now. But the decision had been made to allow for civil servants working in Maldivian education sector to apply for apartments that are vacated,” said Waheed.

He said that people who are no longer eligible for the apartments are being asked to vacate the building.

Meanwhile, the Teachers’ Flat in Male’ still remains exclusively for teachers.
