Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) has reported that contact had been made with the A. Dh. Hanyaameedhoo boat “Ajuma,” which wasn’t heard from in a week after setting off with 13 people on a fishing trip last Monday.
MNDF reported that no one had been able to reach the people onboard the boat due to low phone coverage in the area they were travelling in.
The authority had made a public appeal for assistance in locating the boat on Saturday night.
MNDF said that the owner of the boat had reported that contact had been made with the boat at 10:34 am this Sunday, and that the boat was now travelling in B. Atoll.
It had set off on the fishing trip last Monday from R. Rasgetheemu, and was last heard from on
Eid al-Adha as it prepared to leave R. Rasmaadhoo.
