Local chickens priced over MVR 400

The price of chicken has gone over MVR 400 in Malé City.

Considered as a key ingredient at the Eid feast tomorrow, a pair of chickens is being sold for MVR 1000 at the local market. Separately, a rooster is being sold for MVR 600 and a chicken for MVR 400.

In the previous years, roosters were sold for a price between MVR 900-1000 on the day of Eid. Chickens ranged between MVR 800-900.

Frozen chicken are being sold at MVR 45 per kilogram. A 1.2 kg chicken is being sold for 54 while a 900gs chicken is being sold for 40.

At the local market, 100gs of ground chili is being sold for a price between MVR 25-40 while a lemon kilo is between MVR 40-50. Cabbages kilos are priced at MVR 50, cucumber kilo at MVR 40 and a kilo of tomato at MVR 30 with a kilo of beans at MVR 65.

Capsicum kilo is being sold at the market at MVR 60 while a kilo of leeks is being sold at MVR 65. And a kilo of carrot is being sold for MVR 22 while onions and potatoes are being sold at MVR 12 per kilo.
