Tourist who went snorkeling found dead underwater

A tourist who went snorkeling near Fihaalhohi Resort in Malé Atoll has been found dead during a search for him after he went missing.

Information Officer of MNDF, Major Adnaan Mohamed said that the 35-year-old tourist was found dead tonight in a depth of 17 meters.

Sources say that he was a Russian tourist visit the resort.

The man, wearing a black swimming suit, went snorkeling around 5 p.m. today.

MNDF said that the missing tourist was reported to the MNDF Malé Area Coastguard around 8:50 p.m. tonight.

A search was initiated immediately following the report and the Harbor Craft 110 went to the area where the man went missing with a team of divers.
