Umaru: Interim Government is a ploy by Nasheed to return to power

Former Home Minister, Umaru Naseer has said that the talk of an interim government is a ploy by the former President Mohamed Nasheed to return to power.

Umaru tweeted today saying that only difference is like the difference between Cholera and Shigella – both are painful.

The former Minister tagged a news of the former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom supporting a transitional government.

In an interview with Indian Express on his visit to Sri Lanka, the Ex-President Nasheed said that President Maumoon is with the Maldives United Opposition (MUO). And he said that arrangements have to be made to form an interim government to replace the Presidency of Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

Ex-President made the comments at a time where the former President Maumoon and President Yameen are at odds over difference of opinion.

The difference of opinion between the President of PPM, Maumoon and President Yameen after the PPM President criticized some of the laws being passed by the government at the Parliament. While President Yameen has ordered the MPs of PPM to vote specific bills, former President Maumoon has said that said that those bills are in violation with the basic regulations of the party and ordered the MPs not to vote for them.

Those bills include the leasing of islands for tourism development without a bid process and the bill on Anti-Defamation and Freedom of Expression.
