13-year-old injured in violence among school students

A 13-year-old has been injured in a group violence that took place among school students in Raa Atoll Hulhudhuffaaru.

Following the violence among Grade 7 students of the island, a male student was taken to Raa Ungoofaaru Hospital.

Public Relations Officer at Ungoofaaru Hospital, Hassan Fazeel said that the minor had sustained facial injuries and was bleeding from his nose when he was brought to the hospital. He said that the minor would need to be transferred to Malé City for further treatment.

“Now (he’s) stable, but it’s difficult to say it’s not serious.” The Public Relations Offcer at Ungoofaaru Hospital said.

Vice President of the Raa Atoll Hulhudhuffaaru Island Council, Ali Vaajid said that he got news that the student injured in the incident was discovered at the harbor and was taken to the Health Center but the cause of the violence is unclear.

He said that the Police is yet to arrive in the island regarding the crime.

Information Officer of the Police, Ismail Ali said that no arrests have been made regarding the violence at Hulhudhuffaaru and Police would be going to the island to investigate.
