Maldives Police Service has arrested the driver of the car involved in the traffic collision last night.
Police said that they arrested the driver of the car involved in the traffic collision in Hulhumalé last night, a 22-year-old local man, tonight under a court order in relation to an ongoing investigation. Police did not release his name.
The 28-year-old Fathimath Shiuna was injured in the collision last night. She passed away this morning while undergoing treatment at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
The collision took place on Nirolhu Magu in Hulhumalé at around 11:35 pm while the Shinuna was riding behind a lecturer at the Islamic University, Mohamed Shaahid on a motorcycle. The incident occurred when a car that came up behind them collided with the motorcycle.
Media official of IGMH, Zeenath Ali Habeeb told Sun Media that Shiuna had been in critical condition when she was brought in with a broken jaw and right leg.
IGMH said that the condition of driver of the motorcycle, Shaahid, is improving.
Shiuna is survived by her seven-year-old son. She had come to Male’ to look after her sister’s children after her mother and sister left the country for the Hajj Pilgrimage.
