Tourism Minister: An impeding coup is a delusion

Minister of Tourism, Moosa Zameer has said that talk by the opposition of the current Maldivian government being in the brink of being overthrown was a delusion.

Speaking during an interview with Television Maldives in their “Rajje Miadhu” program last Wednesday night, Zameer said that President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom was not one to look over his shoulders as he worked on fulfilling his promises to the Maldivian people, and that talk of the government being overthrown was therefore a delusion.

Zameer also accused former Maldivian President Mohamed Nasheed’s administration of working outside the law, and said that the current Maldivian government, in comparison, stood firm within the boundaries of law.

He said that the law enforcement agencies would not condone any current government official stepping outside the boundaries of law.

Zameer said that President Yameen had not denied anything that was beneficial to the people of the country, and said that the President had a successful history with the profits of organizations such as State Trading Organization and State Electric Company multiplying under his leadership.

He said that Yameen would have fulfilled all his promises to the Maldivian people by the time he completes his five-year term as the country’s leader.
