Vice Chancellor: Our vision is for MNU to be regionally exemplary

Vice Chancellor of Maldives National University, Dr. Ali Fawaaz Shareef has said that it was the vision of MNU was to become a leading university in the region, and that study visits were necessary in order for the vision to come to fruition.

Speaking during the ceremony held at MNU on Thursday morning to celebrate MNU’s 43-year anniversary, Dr. Ali Fawaaz said that there was no local education institution that could compete with MNU in terms of quality.

He said that MNU wanted to become regionally exceptional, and that the objective can only be fulfilled when regional as well as other international educational institutions consider MNU an example.

“The day they come to the university for study visits is the day we fulfill our vision,” said Dr. Ali Fawaaz.

He said that the employees of MNU had the talent and ability necessary to fulfill the vision.

MNU created four new positions within the university in time for its anniversary, announcing the appointment in the anniversary celebration ceremony.

The 4 positions and the people appointed:

• Dean of Research: Dr. Raheema Abdul Raheem, former Head of Faculty of Health Sciences and Research Director of Villa College

• Head of Center for Foundation: Mohamed Didi, former Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Islamic Affairs

• Controller of Examinations: Fathimath Naziya, former Deputy Principal of Center for Higher Secondary Education

• Dean of Students: Nadiya Ahmed, Acting Examinations Controller and senior official of Faculty of Education since 1997
