MPL employee annual bonus above MVR 4K

Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) started distribution their annual bonus to employees this Thursday, with each employee receiving more than MVR 4,000.

The bonus amount makes history as the highest amount to be received by MPL employees as annual bonus – four times the MVR 1,000 they normally receive as annual bonus.

“Sun: has been informed that the change comes with the decision of MPL Board of Directors to increase the annual bonus from one percent to three percent it’s profit.

The company recently upgraded Meerubahuru Harbor, opening a convenience store for its employees, a modern lounge for travelers, a mosque, toilets, and lounging chairs “joalifathi” for their laborers to relax on.

CEO of MPL, Mohamed Junaid said that income from the store would be used to fund hajj trips and education to its employees.

MPL has approximately 1,500 employees.
