Man sentenced to seven years for stabbing

A young man who stabbed a man at the junction of Buruzu Magu and Hilaalee Magu has been sentenced to seven years in prison by the Criminal Court.

The verdict from the court said that on the evening of 24 June 2015 around 5:30 p.m., Faaig Adam (Haa Dhaalu Kumundhoo) attacked Ibrahim Isham Mohamed (M. Gold Bird Lily) with a knife while he was standing near the shop, Goods Corner, at the junction of Buruzu Magu and Hilaalee Magu.

And said that witness testimonies and evidence presented to the court proves that Faaig went to the scene in question with another person on a motorcycle and then ran towards Isham while he was near the shop and threw a seven-inch knife towards him injuring his right hand between the ring finger and the baby finger.

Faaig was sentenced under the law against intimidation and carrying of dangerous weapons.
