Yellow Alert issued to islands between Addu City and Gaafu Alifu Atoll

Maldives Meteorological Center has issued a Yellow Alert has been issued to the Islands between Addu City and Gaafu Alifu Atool.

MET Office said that the alert was issued since torrential rains and thunderstorms are expected in the area.

A yellow weather alert is issued to warn the public to ready at a state of alert of any damages to property or self.

It is not safe to travel at sea during a Yellow Alert for torrential rains and storms.

While the alert was issued to hold effect from 9:40 p.m. to 12:40 a.m. tonight in the area, MET Office said that rain is expected across the country.

Winds are expected to be 7-17 mph in the Southern Atolls and 15-25 mph in other regions. And winds are expected to be up to 45 mph during showers.
