Officer, alleged male lover arrested from a guesthouse

A male police officer and his alleged male lover has been arrested from a guesthouse in Male’.

Police information officer confirmed that they arrested two male suspects from a guesthouse on Friday night – one of them a police officer.

The 21-year-old and 24-year-old men were arrested after in an operation they conducted based on a tip they received.

Criminal Court has extended their remand to 15 more days.

Ismail said that Maldives Police Service would also be taking disciplinary action against the officer.

Same-sex sexual relations are prohibited in Maldives.
