Bangkok on-arrival visa fee doubled

Government of Thailand has made the decision to double the on-arrival visa fee in Bangkok for people from 19 nationalities – including Maldives – starting from September.

The change is to come from September 27 onwards.

The on-arrival visa fee in Bangkk currently stands at 1,000 Thai Baht (approximately MVR 500), and will be increased to 2,000 Thai Baht (approximately MVR 1,000).

The nationalities that the change will affect include Maldives, Bhutan, China, India, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.

Despite the increase in on-arrival visa fee, the 15-day period provided as visa and the fee of visas approved at embassies and consulates in Thailand will not change.

Thai Cabinet decided to increase the on-arrival visa fee last January in a bid to shorten queues at immigration counters.
