Three detained officers of MNDF released after dismissal

Three officers of MNDF that were detained have been released after being dismissed from employment.

The three officers are MNDF Skydiver, Mohamed Favvaaz, bodyguard of the former President Nasheed, Ahmed Fatthah and Naushad Adam from Special Force.

After their release from MNDF last night, they were taken to the Police and questioned regarding an ongoing investigation.

The family of Mohamed Favvaaz said that the phones of Naushad and Favvaaz was seized by the Police under a court order.

The court order for the phones says that it is to acquire the details of the calls and text messages on the phones. According to the court order, the suspicion against them attempting to recruite people within the MNDF to arrest President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and the phones are needed to acquire evidence of that.

Their phones and SIM cards are withheld for three months according to the court order.

Criminal Court also issued a court order blocking the passports of Favvaaz and Naushad. According to that court order, it is because the investigation could be obstructed if they leave the country.

Information Officer of the Police, Ismail Ali told Sun Media that two people were brought to the Police to be questioned regarding an ongoing investigation and one of them had their phone seized under a court order.

There has been no word from MNDF on the matter.
