Bank of Maldives (BML) has become the Title Sponsor of the Guesthouse Maldives Conference organized by Maldives Getaways targeted to the guesthouse industry.
At a special signing ceremony for the sponsorship agreement, the CEO, Andrew Healy represented his bank on the contract opposite the Business Development Officer of Maldives Getaways, Dr. Hussain Sunny.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Healy said that BML is very “keen” to support the guesthouse and the growing industry.
“Therefore we are delighted to announce our title sponsorship of this very important conference which brings together all of the industry’s stakeholders”. The BML CEO said.
He said that while Maldives Getaways has targeted to bring 500,000 tourists to the guesthouses in the country before 2020, BML would perform their role fully to achieve that goal.
The Business Development Officer of Maldives Getaways, Dr. Hussain Sunny said that there are about 500 guesthouses in 80 atolls operating with over 5,000 beds and they want the guesthouses in the Maldives to be marketed at international tourism fairs.
Dr. Sunny said that major international travel agencies and relevant institutes in the Maldives have endorsed the Guesthouse Maldives Conference and the hope is that conference would bring major assistance to the guesthouse industry and the BML.
