Committee backs new Home Minister Azleen

Government Oversight Committee of People’s Majlis has provided their backing to Ahmed Azleen – appointed as the new Minister of Home Affairs by President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

Six of the seven Committee members who attended the meeting on Monday morning voted in approval of the appointment.

Azleen was hired as the new Minister of Home Affairs on August 1, after the former Minister of Home Affairs – Umar Naseer resigned from his post and announced his candidacy for the upcoming Presidential Election.

Azleen has experience in serving the State in education sector, having last worked as Head of Center for Higher Education.
