Central Henveiru MP Ali Azim was cast out of People’s Majlis sitting on Monday morning after alleged disrespect to Majlis rules and regulation.
Azim’s name was announced and he was cast out of the Majlis by Deputy Speaker, Hulhu-Henveiru MP Reeko Moosa Manik.
As per Majlis regulation, Azim will not be allowed to attend the Majlis sitting for the rest of the day, and will be considered absent from the moment Deputy Speaker Reeko called his name.
Azim was ordered out of Majlis after he disrupted Feydhoo MP Ibrahim Didi as he was speaking during the debate on amendment to freedom of assembly.
According to regulation, any legislator who refuses to leave the Majlis will be penalized with a 55 percent cut from committee attendance, which will cost legislators their MVR 20,000 committee allowance.
It will also result in legislators being banned from Majlis trips for the next three months.
