Civil Court has ordered telecom company Dhiraagu to pay MVR 160,422.82 in compensation for failing to provide iPhone SE to an individual who preordered it via the company.
Civil Court issued its verdict this Sunday, after the lawsuit filed by Mohamed Shafaau Hassan (M. Riveli, Male’).
Civil Court said that Dhiraagu had violated their agreement with Shafaau who preordered the iPhone SE after he paid MVR 5,828.94 and was promised the phones on April 7.
Shafaau had paid the sum in a promotion launched by Dhiraagu on March 30.
Court ordered Dhiraagu to pay back the MVR 5,828.94 he spent to preorder the phone, MVR 4,593.90 he spent to buy another phone, and an additional MVR 100,000 in compensation for his troubles.
Dhiraagu has also been ordered to pay MVR 50,000 in legal fees Shafaau spent on the lawsuit.
The company has been asked to pay the MVR 160,422.84 due to Shafaau within seven days, starting from this Sunday.
