The first batch of Maldives Hajj Corporation pilgrims are to leave to Saudi Arabia on Monday night.
In a ceremony held at Mookai Hotel on Sunday, Managing Director of Hajj Corporation, Yameen Idhrees announced that the first batch of the 1,000 pilgrims who will be making the hajj trip to
Saudi Arabia this year are scheduled to leave on Monday night.
Yameen said that there will be special ferries to transport the pilgrims from Male’ to Hulhule’ – where Ibrahim Nasir International Airport in located – staring from 4:30 pm onwards on Monday.
“All preparations for the first flight have been made. Visa and all other arrangements are complete,” said Yameen.
Four Saudia flights have been appropriated to transport the pilgrims to Saudi Arabia, this year.
The first batch will be transported on Monday, the second batch on Thursday, the third batch on Sunday next week, and the fourth batch on Monday – next week.
Yameen said that a team of eight officials from Hajj Corporation has already been sent to Saudi Arabia to make necessary preparations.
He said that pilgrims were being educated regarding Islam and hajj in training sessions before they make the trip.
Total 2,000 pilgrims from Maldives will travel to Saudi Arabia to perform hajj this year.
