Repair work on Rasfannu seawall begins to stop erosion

Authorities have begun repairing the seawall protecting Rasfannu Artificial Beach in an effort to stop erosion.

Rasfannu Artificial Beach – which was opened six months ago at the expense of MVR 40 million – has been facing issue after issue ever since.

Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure recently announced that it had identified the solution to sand erosion and flooding faced by Rasfannu.

Minister of Housing and Infrastructure, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu spoke to “Sun” on Thursday and said that the changes being brought to the seawall would provide a solution to issues faced by Rasfannu such as erosion.

Muizzu said that small changes to the seawall would provide a permanent solution to the issues facing Rasfannu. He added that the work would be completed very soon.

Rasfannu Artificial Beach is a government project to establish a safe and relaxing place for the citizens of Male’ amid congestion and a variety of social and criminal issues. Rasfannu is visited by a large number of people daily.
