Officers of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) banned from meeting with politicians and attending social gatherings with politicians along with other such events.
A statement issued by the MNDF state that no officer of the Maldivian Military can meet with politicians without the permission of a chief officer.
Officers are banned from meetings with:
- State Ministers
- Presidential Appointees
- Election Candidates
- Leaders of political parties
- Activists
- Diplomats
- Officials of foreign military
- Other foreign dignitaries
MNDF said that the Defence Ministry has ordered that while their officers must serve their national duty without being impartial or bias they should keep their actions in a way that upholds the honor and sanctity of the MNDF away from all political and other influences.
