Criminal Court has sentence two of the men who were involved in the attack of a Police Officer during the opposition protest rally on 1 May 2015 to seven years in prison.
The sentence was passed on Ibrahim Ibaad (Seenu Hulhudhoo) and Ibrahim Rasheed (Malé City).
Verdict delivered by the Criminal Court today said that on the night of 1 May 2015 between 10 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., Police Sargent Abdul Rahman Hussain was running on Chaandhanee Magu when protestors tripped him to the ground.
And witness testimonies prove that Ibaad then took the baton the Police Officer was holding by force and hit him with it.
The Verdict also said that testimonies prove that Ibrahim Rasheed hit the officer with a Cone and added further that third suspect in the attack, Ahmed Unais (Seenu Hulhudhoo) is not found guilty of the crime.
A number of people have received prison sentences previously in relation to the attack on Sargent Abdul Rahman Hussain.
