Police stop opposition motorbike rally, tows 11 bikes

Police stopped the Maldives United Opposition motorbike rally held Saturday night, confiscating the licenses of 11 people and towing their bikes.

Police information officer Ismail Ali reported to “Sun” that the police had towed 11 motorbikes which were being driven in violation of law of land vehicles and creating public fear.

Ismail Ali said that police had also confiscated the licenses of the individuals driving the 11 motorbikes.

He insisted that it was part of normal police procedure to confiscate licenses and tow motorbikes driven at dangerously high speeds.
