The 750,000th tourist to visit Maldives this year has been received warmly at Ibrahim Nasir International Airport on Sunday morning.
The Chinese tourist was received personally by the Minister of Tourism Moosa Zameer, acting Managing Director of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) Haaris Mohamed, Chinsese Ambassador to Maldives Wang Fukang and senior officials from Island Aviation.
The Chinese tourist arrived in Maldives to spend the holiday along with his wife and 5-year-old son.
Speaking to reporters, the Chinese tourist said that this was his second trip to Maldives; the first - being on his honeymoon.
He said that he was extremely happy to be the lucky 750,000th tourist on the couple’s second trip to Maldives – this time with their son.
The Chinese tourist has been gifted a 7-day all-expense paid trip at a luxury resort in Maldives.
Acting Managing Director of MMPRC, Haaris spoke to reporters and said that it was a matter of great pride that the 750,000th tourist to the country this year had arrived on a flight from Maldivian – the country’s national airline.
Minister of Tourism, Moosa Zameer noted the effort to increase tourist arrival to the country, and said that the government was committed to achieving its target.
