Civil Court has put a temporary hold on Leader of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) Leader Maumoon Abdul Gayoom’s order that no Council meeting must be held without his express permission.
The temporary hold was requested by two PPM lawmakers – Naifaru MP Ahmed Shiyam and Hulhudhoo MP Mohamed Shahid, after Maumoon issued an order that no PPM Council meetings can be held without his permission.
He made the order before travelling abroad.
MP Shahid and MP Shiyam had re-filed the lawsuit with Civil Court – asking the court to declare Maumoon’s reform agenda void.
Civil Court said that the temporary hold would stand until the end of the trial, or until a decisive order was made by the court.
