Police: Want to summon former Foreign Minister Naseem to Police as well

Maldives Police Service has said that they want to summon the former Foreign Minister, Ahmed Naseem to the Police Station as well.

Information Officer of the Police, Ismail Ali told Sun Media tonight that the Police have tried to deliver the summoning letter to Naseem to summon him to the Police. But they have been unsuccessful since he is not in the country.

The Police did not say as to why they want to summon the former Foreign Minister.

Naseem is also a member of the Shadow Cabinet established by the Maldives United Opposition (MUO).

Police have previously said that among the people they want to summon to the Police include the former Vice President and the current leader of MUO, Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed and the former State Minister of the Home Ministry, Akram Kamaaluddheen.

They are both currently out of the country hence the Police have been unable to send the letter summoning them.

Dr. Jameel and Akram are being summoned to the Police in relation to the attempted illegal arrest of the President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
