Motorcycle taxi services will begin in September, permit issuance on Sunday

Minister of Economic Affairs, Mohamed Saeed has said that the authority has selected companies to provide motorcycle taxi services, and that the selected companies would be announced and issued permits on Sunday.

Minister Saeed spoke to “Sun” this Wednesday and said that the Ministry wanted the service to start in September at the latest – possibly even this month if the companies were ready.

Permits were originally supposed to be issued by July 26.

Saeed did not reveal the names of the companies selected to provide the new service – but said that the Ministry had completed making the selection, and that it would be officially announced the coming Sunday.

He said that an effective regulation on motorcycle taxi service would also be compiled as soon as the companies selected to provide the service is announced.
