Police scrambles to assist drifting cargo boat with exploded pipe

Police have been scrambled to assist a cargo landing craft that got a pipe burst on the engine while on their way to Malé City from Dhaalu Atoll and is now drifting.

Media Official of the Police told Sun Media tonight that the landing craft named “LPP Barakaath Kayaahaa Mandhiri” had a pipe burst while passing between Thilafushi and Giraavaru.

The Official said that the pipe burst stopped the engine and the boat is drifting at sea towards the Thilafushi reef.

Police is working to find a vessel to tug the landing craft to Malé City.
