Leader of the MDA and MP for the Meedhoo constituency, Ahmed Siyam Mohamed has said that we are going further away from our responsibility to the nation handed down by our forefathers if independence is, as Muslims, defamation of each other and allowing for dissension of the streets.
In his address to the nation on the occasion of the 51st Independence Day, Siyam said that a group of locals are have align themselves with foreign powers in their greed to rule the country. And even now, it is being seen again in front of the eyes of the people and called to the people not to respond to their call.
He said that the shadow of slavery is being felt on the independence of the Maldivian economy due to such people.
The MDA Leader called to all those that love this nation not to respond to the call of such opposing people. And he advised the youth to stay away from the work of such people.
Siyam sent the greetings of the independence day to President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and the First Lady, Madam Fathimath Ibrahim along with the all the people of the country. He also sent the commemorations of the day to Parliament MPs and members of the MDA.
