Police: Action would be taken against attempts to disrupt Independence Day function

Maldives Police Service has said that action would be taken against any attempts to disrupt the special Independece Day function hosted by the President and the First Lady.

While the Police have released such a statement, the opposition coalition, the Maldives United Opposition (MUO) has said that a special prayer would be made after the Isha Salah tonight at the Islamic Center.

The statement from the Police said that they are very concerned that a group of people are planning to disrupt the official function commemorating 51 years of Maldivian Independence.

Police also advises not to make any attempts at disrupting tonight’s function as a number of foreign emissaries and distinguished guests would be in attendance at the function.

The Police said that in the effort t to stop any attempts at disrupting the function, they would take any measures deemed necessary.
