6 people sentenced to 5 years in prison for attacking officer

Criminal Court has sentenced six people accused of attacking a police officer during May Day protest to five years in prison.

Former Eagles goalkeeper Ibrahim Labaan Shareef was accused of pushing Sergeant Abdul Rahman Hussein to the ground on May 1 between 10 pm – 10:30 pm while he running near Iskandhar School and attacking him, with the other suspects then joining in on the attack while he was lying on the ground.

The six sentenced to 5-years in prison are:

• Ibrahim Labaan Shareef (M. Baansaree, Male’)

• Naasira Ali (Ehgamuge, L. Gan)

• Faruhath Ali (G. Blue Wave, Male’)

• Abdulla Rasheed (G. Keemiyaa, Male’)

• Umar Gaahir (Neelofarumaage, G. Dh. Gadhdhoo)

• Ahmed Ibrahim (Rose Villa, Th. Guraidhoo)
