“Adubarey” among the people making prayer arrested

Maldives Police Service has stopped the supports of the Opposition making a prayer inside the grounds of the Islamic Center and arrested the former Captain of the Maldivian National Football Team, Assad Ali famously known as “Adubarey”.

Moments after the opposition started making the prayer after the Friday prayers today, Police went in and started dispersing them. And so they pushed back the people in the row making prayer.

Adubarey was arrested when he completed the prayer and a voluntary prayer after refusing to leave.

The opposition made a prayer today to bring the country safety claiming that brutality has risen in the country and the justice is no longer in the Maldives.

RaajjeTV journalist, Murushid Abdul Hakeem, who was in the area and was affected by pepper spray said that Police used pepper spray on him at close range while he was perfectly still.
