An important meeting of the PPM Parliamentary Group has been set for 8 p.m. tonight at the Parliament Building.
A member of the group told Sun Media tonight that the meeting is to discuss the internal turmoil within the party and the pending bills of the government to be submitted at the Parliament along with other important issues.
The meeting of the Parliamentary Group was set after an emergency meeting of the PPM Council was also scheduled for tonight at the PPM Office.
The message sent to the Council Members by the PPM Office today said that the emergency meeting would be held tonight at 9 p.m.
A member of PPM Council who spoke to Sun Media said that they had not been informed of the reason or agenda for the emergency meeting tonight.
For the first time after the recent turmoil within the PPM arose, a Council meeting is being held at a time where a number of MPs has requested the PPM President, Maumoon Abdul Gayoom to hold a Council Meeting.
President of PPM, Maumoon has now retracted his order not to hold any committee meetings within the party without his permission.
PPM Disciplinary Committee had made the decision to remove MP Ahmed Faris Maumoon, Council member Aminath Nadhira and Male’ City Council member Zaidul Ameen from the party, in spite of Maumoon’s orders not to hold any committee meeting without his permission.
Disciplinary Committee has requested with Council to enforce its decision to remove the members from the party after Deputy Secretary-General of the party rejected it, saying that proper procedure had not been followed in the matter.
