Ministry: Number of unregistered businesses reduced

Economic Ministry has said that the number of businesses being run without registration has been reduced significantly.

Speaking at a press conference held at the Economic Ministry today, the Registrar of Companies, Mariyam Visam said that while the number of unregistered businesses has been reduced and if an unregistered business has been noticed, they are being fined with MVR 10,000 under the law of registrations.

Visam said that an effort is being put to raise awareness on the matter in the islands.

As the Economic Ministry say this, unregistered businesses and businesses being conducted after official closing hours are very common in the country.
