“Saafu Raajje” convention estimated to cost MVR 3 million

The “Saafu Raajje 2016” (Clean Maldives) convention on waste management training, resources and information has been estimated to cost MVR 3 million by the Environment Ministry.

Environment Ministry said that convention that began on Sunday at Dharubaaruge have participants from Island Councils, Resorts and Schools. Talking to the press on the proceedings of the convention, the Deputy Minister at the Environment Ministry, Ali Amir said that about the convention would cost about MVR 2.8 – 3 million.

He said that it is an estimate of the total and the actual cost would be known when the convention ends. The convention is to end tomorrow night.

More than 500 participants from islands, resorts and schools are taking part in the three-day convention according to the Ministry.

The government is preparing to start a USD 100 million project for waste management in the Malé City area. The Environment Ministry said that the project is also up for discussion at the ongoing convention on waste management.
