Maldivian Minister of Defense Adam Shareef Umar has said that he cannot accept any coup from any group anywhere, and that he disapproved of what took place in Maldives on February 7, 2012.
Minister made two statements from his official Twitter account regarding the failed overnight military coup attempt in Turkey, in which he expressed concern over the situation in Turkey.
He said that he cannot accept any coup by any group anywhere, and said that the people of Turkey were suffering as a result.

Minister Adam Shareef Umar’s tweet drew social media attention, with people asking about the violence that rocked the country on February 7, 2012 involving police and military officers.
He responded to one question, and said that he had not approved of that, either.

The investigative committee made up of both local and international officials ruled that the happenings of February 7 had not been a military coup, despite claims to the otherwise by Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), which had been in power at the time.
