PPM summoned to court

Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) has received notice to attend Civil Court in the lawsuit filed by PPM lawmakers Hulhudhoo MP Mohamed Shahid and Naifaru MP Ahmed Shiyam.

Shahid had spoken to “Sun” on Thursday and said the lawmakers had retracted their lawsuit as PPM leader, former Maldivian President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom had relinquished his hold over committee meetings.

Civil Court has however served notice to PPM, summoning them to court on Sunday, at 1:30 pm.

A PPM official who spoke to “Sun” on Thursday night said that Shahid had lied to the media about retracting the lawsuit.

“Hulhudhoo MP Mohamed Shahid gave false information to media. He lied. They did not retract the lawsuit,” said the official.

Shahid and Shiyam were unavailable for comment regarding the issue.
