Jihad appointed as the Vice President

Minister of Finance and Treasury, Abdulla Jihad has been appointed as the Vice President.

The third Vice President in the Presidency of Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom was appointed moments ago at a ceremony at the President’s Office.

While a Vice President has been appointed eight months after the last Vice President, then Tourism Minister, Ahmed Adheeb was dismissed after being suspected of being involved in the explosion on board the Presidential Launch, “Finifenma.”

President Yameen’s running mate when he got elected, Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed was impeached from Vice Presidency for not supporting the government.

The new Vice President appointed today, Abdulla Jihad, has filled a number of positions of the state in the financial sector including the Governor of the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA).
