Parliament has set agreed to set up an 11-member committee to research the paper on the government policy on Terrorism and Extremism submitted by the President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Yameen.
The researching of the President’s papaer was presented by the MP for Vilufushi constituency, PPM’s Riyaz Rasheed and passed with 38 votes. Only on MP voted against.
The members for the committee with representatives from all parties were presented by Majority Leader, Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik.

The President has said that the Policy of the Maldivian government towards terrorism and extremism is to stop such things without giving any room to rise.
President’s document on the Maldivian policy emphasizes on important steps to stop terrorism and extremism such as strengthen the relevant laws, take part in treaties such as the UN Arms Trade Treaty and join with foreign nations to share intelligence and take preemptive measures.
Opposition MPs also spoke in favor of the President’s document at the debate.
