Fiyaz given 5 days to hire attorney

RajjeTV CEO, Hussain Fiyaz has been given 5 days to hire a defense attorney.

While reading the charge against Fiyaz during Wednesday’s hearing in Criminal Court, state prosecutor said that Fiyaz had hit a policeman working on diffusing the IED found in Muliaage in the chest, and had tried to obstruct police.

Fiyaz has been charged with touching someone without permission under the new Penal Code – which could land him up to three months in prison.

Fiyaz, and two other reporters from RajjeTV were arrested from near Stadium on November 2, 2015, where police and military officials had transported the IED to, in order to diffuse it.

Meanwhile, the other two reporters arrested - Mohamed Wisam and Leevan Ali Nasir have been charged with obstruction of justice.
