Man and four minors arrested in Irushan’s murder

Five more have been arrested in the murder of the 14-year-old Ahmed Irushan Hilmee who stabbed and killed in a group fight near the junction of Shaheed Ali Magu and Majeedhee Magu.

Police Media Official told Sun Media today that four of the five people arrested in the case recently are under the age of 18 and the other is 18 years old.

A 16-year-old and an 18-year-old were arrested Sunday night and the 16-year-old had been remanded by 15 days while the 18-year-old was remanded by ten days.

And last night, two 16-year-olds and one 17-year-old were arrested. They will be taken to court sometime today to make a decision on their remand.

While a total of seven people have been arrest in the case so far, six of them are minors.

At a Police press conference on Sunday, Superintendent Abdulla Shatheeh said that the group violence was between two Maafannu gangs, “Vaikanmathi” and Eagles due to a disagreement that morning. Police did not give the details of the disagreement.

Superintendent Shatheeh said that Irushan was stabbed almost two inches deep in his neck.

A second 14-year-old, Faathiru Mohamed Ali was killed on the same night in another attack.

Police say that Faathiru was involved in the first attack where Irushan was stabbed. The footage on the attack on Faathiru shows two people barging in as he opens the door to his residence. One of those two people is believed to be above 18 years of age and the other is believed to be a minor.

The younger of the two is seen taking a knife and attacking Faathiru.

Faathiru attempted to climb up the stairs according to the Police but he was attacked on the stairs as well.

No arrests have been made so far in the murder of Faathiru.
