Muhuthaz: Commissioner Areef requested a court order to arrest President Yameen

Former Prosecutor General (PG), Muhuthaz Muhusin has said that the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Areef request the Criminal Court for a court order to arrest the President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

Speaking at the hearing last night to take testimonies in the cases against the former PG, Muhuthaz said that Commissioner Areef made the request when Judge Abdulla Mohamed was at the Criminal Court.

Muhuthaz said that the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Saudi is aware of it as well.

While Muhuthaz has requested to summon the Deputy Commissioner Saudi as a defence witness, the judge presiding over the case said that Deputy Commissioner does not want to testify.

Judge Baree said that only the witnesses called by the prosecution would be brought to court in detention.
