President and First Lady back in Male’

President Abdulla Yameen and First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim have arrived back in Male’ after their state visit to Malaysia.

They were welcomed upon arrival in Male’ on Thursday by cabinet ministers, parliamentarians, and senior officials of state-owned companies.

President and First Lady travelled to Malaysia on May 30 and left the country on June 1.

President’s Office has not revealed where the couple travelled to, before coming back to Maldives.

President’s Office said earlier that President and First Lady travelled to Malaysia to attend the inauguration ceremony of PERMATA International Conference: Children Beyond Tomorrow.

First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim gave a lecture during the conference, upon invitation of the wife of Malaysian Prime Minister Rosmah Mansor.

President Yameen met with Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak and discussed ways to strengthen the cooperation between the two countries.
