Court orders Imthiyaaz be re-assigned MD of MRDC

Civil Court has ruled that former Managing Director of Maldives Road Development Corporation (MRDC), Imthiyaaz Hussein was terminated from his post in 2014 in violation of Employment Act, and had ordered that he be re-assigned to the position.

Imthiyaaz filed the lawsuit with Civil Court asking that it be ruled he was removed from the post in violation of law, that he be re-assigned to the position, and that he be given the salary and allowances from the time when he was terminated to when he is re-assigned the post, all at once.

Court made the ruling on Sunday.

Court ruled that Imthiyaaz was fired in violation of law, and that MRDC consider that he was never terminated from the post.

MRDC has been ordered to Imthiyaaz be given the salary and allowances owed to him, that he be re-assigned to the same post or a post of the same level, and that he be given job promotions if he was due any – within seven days, starting from May 30.
