Biggest political opposition party in the Maldives, Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has released their annual audit report.
According to the Law of Political Parties, every political party has to submit their their annual audit report to the Auditor General and the Elections Commission. And the financial statistics of the party has to be openly publicized to it’s members.
MDP issued a statement saying that they have done an audit of 2015 and has been publicized. The audit was done by international audit firm Ernst & Young.
The MDP audit report show an earning of MVR 11.6 million which consists of MVR 6.9 million from the state budget and MVR 4.7 million from other sources.
Their biggest spending of the year 2015 was MVR 2.7 million for the “Insaafuge Dhathuru” (Journey to Justice) campaign and spent MVR 1.8 million on other promotions.
With a total of 900,000 for the rent of the office building and campaign hall, the party paid MVR 1.1 million as salaries to all of their employees.
Total spending from the party last year is at MVR 8.6 million.
