Replica of historic boat “Kalhuohfunmi” used by national hero “Utheem Boduthakurufaanu” in his battle to free Maldives from Portuguese, was relocated to City Park in Alikilegefaan Magu, Male’, on Wednesday morning.

Deputy Home Minister Ahmed Saleem (Maaz Saleem) informed “Sun” that “Kalhuohfunmi” had been relocated to City Park. And that the Park would be re-opened to public within one and a half months after renovation.

Government has also moved all the LED trees used to decorate Sultan Park to celebrate 50th year of Maldivian Independence to City Park.

The replica of “Kalhuohfunmi” measures 51 foot, 6 inches in length, and was built for MVR 1 million.

Ministry of Home Affairs said that a lot of research had gone into the project as there was no drawing or illustration of the original “Kalhuohfunmi” available.
